Pediatric oncology

 

The group of Pediatric Oncology focuses for the largest part on clinical research. The group is involved in

  • National and international clinical studies designed to evaluate treatment strategies for children with specific malignant diseases.
  • Industry driven phase II-III studies designed to evaluate efficacy and toxicity of drugs or combinations of drugs used in a supportive care setting in children with cancer. 
  • Studies addressing the quality of life of children with cancer as well as their families, such as nutrition and growth, school performance and coping of siblings within a family with a child with a malignancy.
  • Translational research aiming to investigate the role of the immature immune system in the pathogenesis and treatment of malignant diseases is currently being developed.
